Het Nestje
A social project in Antwerp

The Vision
When we first started dreaming about how we wanted to organise our workshops, an image emerged of a neighbourhood project where birds from different directions come together. A place where different cultures, languages and stories can meet, with exchange at its heart.
We dreamed of a nest, built by and for the neighbourhood. Because perhaps now, more than ever, we need places that embody inclusivity: places where everyone is welcome, where differences can come together, and where we can feel connected to one another.
We are therefore incredibly proud to have joined forces with 't Hofke van Stuivenberg, an organisation that created a garden for the neighbourhood and hosts a variety of activities, and Atlas Antwerpen, an organisation that supports newcomers in the city in finding their place and feeling at home here.
Together, we created a space for connection, exchange and creativity in the beautiful garden on the site of the former Stuivenberg Hospital in Antwerp.
We are deeply grateful for the enthusiasm and dedication with which all the participants contributed to the project. Everyone left a little piece of themselves, their energy and their story behind in the new nest at ’t Hofke.
And so, ‘Het Nestje’ continues to grow, a place where everyone can leave something of themselves behind, and where everyone can always return.

Change begins
as a quiet feeling
Within us.
A seed of hope
That with care
Will grow
Working with nature
Means
Moving with respect, joy and love
And when we do
Nature gives back
In ways we never
imagined
